Insert a melee disc into your normal wii and launch cleanrip. Cleanrip will make a backup of your ISO in the root of your sd card. (It has to be a direct 1:1 copy of your melee disc, otherwise the game will not launch, which is necessary for authentication.) Once the rip is complete, launch devolution, mount the SD card and select the Melee ISO. I currently have 20XX running beautifully in widescreen on my Wii U and I figured it'd be lame to not tell everyone else how unbelievably easy it really is to get this hack working.
Super Smash Bros Wii U Gamestop
With some light preparation and about 45 mins worth of time you'll be kicking ass! I've tried to include as many links to documentation as possible so that you can cross-reference anything that is unclear.
The laundry list:
- 20XX/Melee ISO file
- 2gb or less SD Card
- A Wiimote
- One of the controllers listed here or a Wii U to GC adapter or the Mayflash Wii U to GC adapter w/ a GC controller.
- For Mac users you will need a copy of Wine
- The boot.elf file from BootMii
- SSB Brawl
A Few Notes:
- You need the Wiimote in order to access your stock Wii partition on the Wii U. There's no other way around it.
- I'm not going to show you where or how to get a Melee/20XX ISO file.
- Wine is needed in order to use the Dios Mios Toolbox on Mac, as it is only available as a Windows executable (.exe) file as far as I know.
- Brawl is for SmashStack'ing your way into Homebrew land.
- SDHC and SDXC will not work because the
Wii OSBrawl does not know how to read that format.ItBrawl also cannot read past a 2gb partition. - You can use a USB stick for the Nintendont section of this guide. You only need to use a formatted SD for the Homebrew installation section due to the way Smashstack works.
- Hacking the Wii partition of the Wii U is extremely safe. Worst thing that happens is you somehow manage to brick the Wii partition but your Wii U OS is completely unscathed and gucci mayne.
Lag:
- According to the best source we have /u/Fizzi36, the virtual Wii has the potential to add about 10ms of lag.
- Monitors can add inherent lag as they've been notoriously known to do.
- The adapters on the other hand will not introduce any lag if you download the most recent controller config files through Nintendont's settings. All polling issues have been completely patched up for both Mayflash and the Sm4sh adapter as of r236.
Ready? Go!
[Homebrew]
- Quickly format/reformat your SD card for FAT32. This can be easily done from Disk Utility on a Mac, and on Windows you simply right click on the SD card in desktop, choose 'Format..' and do the deed.
- Next step is to get Homebrew on your Wii U. Firstly, place the 'boot.elf' file from the HackMii download on to the root directory of your SD card, aka just drag and drop it right on into the SD. Then, take that 'private' folder from the SmashStack download and also throw it into the root directory of your SD. Now you've got 'private', and 'boot.elf' chilling next to each other.
- Boot up your Wii U and head over to the Wii Menu / Wii partition. Without your fancy SD card in the system, insert the Brawl disk and spin that up as well once the Wii OS is done booting.Prison inmate work programs. By definition, work release programs for inmates are based around transition. The inmates who benefit from these programs are taught to find and keep employment. Learning the skills necessary to locate employment, obtain a job, and keep it, is more complicated that it may seem on the surface. Sentenced inmates are required to work if they are medically able. Institution work assignments include employment in areas like food service or the warehouse, or work as an inmate orderly, plumber, painter, or groundskeeper. Inmates earn 12¢ to 40¢ per hour for these work assignments. Traditional Industries Work Programs. In the traditional industry prison work programs, inmates manufacture or service goods such as name plates, mattresses, desks, shelving, seating, bookcases and more. These items are sold to state, county and municipal offices school districts. The inmate work program has allowed the State to accomplish more with less. Using inmate labor has saved tax dollars and allowed projects that would have otherwise been deferred to reach fruition. The citizens also recognize that it is a good use of a valuable resource that would otherwise be a burden to society rather than an asset.
- Head over to Vault and delete the 3 stages the come pre-rolled with Brawl b/c they will fuck everything up. If you have any other custom stages you gotta get rid of 'em or put 'em on a backup somewhere.
- Go back to the Main Menu in Brawl. Insert your SD into the Wii U for the first time.
- Go back to Vault and shit should start going bonkers because you just hacked your Wii (U) :) Follow the onscreen directions to install Homebrew on to just the Wii partition of your Wii U.
- After that's all said and done you should have the Homebrew Channel available from the Wii Menu. Congrats! You're almost there!!!!
[Nintendont]
- Delete everything off of your SD card if you're like me and you only have one, otherwise repeat step one from the Homebrew steps on your spare SD. You just need a squeeky clean SD card.
- Create a new empty folder galled 'games' (no quotes).
- Place the 'apps' folder from the Nintendont download in to the root directory of your SD card. You should now just have an 'apps' folder chilling right next to your empty 'games' folder.
- Open up Dios Mios Toolbox. If you're on a Mac all you have to do is install Wine prior to doubleclicking the .exe file and it will open up (rather jankily).
- Setup the 'Gamecube ISO' field to your Melee or 20XX ISO file and set the 'Output dir' to your Desktop. Let that baby rip!!!
- Put DMT's freshly created ISO file into that empty 'games' folder you made earlier on your SD card. Now you've got 'apps' with Nintendont inside, and 'games' with the formatted ISO inside.
- Here's the fun part! Put your SD card into your Wii U and boot that bad boy up. Head over to the Wii Menu / Wii partition and navigate/open your new Homebrew Channel.
- Using your Wiimote, select Nintendont from the available apps. Once it's done booting up, select your ISO from the list.
- You should be booting up into Melee/20XX now!!!! You go Glen Coco!
I hope this helps some of you guys. Big shout out to /u/jackmorgan888 for the helpful Wii post.
It took me like 45 mins to get this hack up and running and man is it great. I'm using the Mayflash GC adapter instead of the Official Nintendo one and it works off-the-bat. It's a beautiful thing.
If you're curious, there are some extra settings inside of Nintendont that are worth poking around at, like Autoboot, Force Progressive Scan, Wii U Widescreen, and Force Widescreen.
You can also be mad thorough and100% should download all of the controller configuration (controller.ini) files directly through the settings menu of Nintendont. This will insure that your compatible controller/adapter works smoothly right off the bat without having to think about anything.
Let me know if I've missed anything or you have a faster/cooler way of getting this done!
ENJOY Y'ALL
I'LL TRY TO ANSWER QUESTIONS BUT AIN'T NO ONE GOT TIME FO' DAT
